Sneak preview of my music video animation...

I've finished post-production on the animated segment for the music video. I'm putting a sneak preview of it here on my blog because I'm not going to put it up on my youtube channel until the full music video has been released. This is the full 10 seconds I animated for the video anyway:

The video is for a song called 'Smile' by The Leano, a rapper and spoken word artist from London. He wanted the video to be made up of animated segments by different artists from all over the world, with the animated characters lip-syncing along.

You can find out more about The Leano here: www.myspace.com/leanoland
and here: http://www.youtube.com/TheLeano

BEAUTIFUL colors and design! This is by far the best thing you've done so far, can't wait to see the finished thing!

Thanks Ryan. I can't wait to see the finished video too. I think there are 11 other animators doing segments, so there should be some really interesting stuff.

Awesome lip sync! I think I'm confused by your blog posts, thinking it was all happening as you posted? but you did it too fast? No? But you just posted finishing the pupps 4 days ago?! huh?

My blog is usually about 24 hours behind me, but I really do work fast :) I set everything up and animated it in one 10 hour stint, then the next day I added the stars in post-production to finish it off - ta-daa!
Thanks for the comments.

it looks wonderful Woolly...and it funny to hear your little puppets speaking in such a foreign tongue...congratulations on being rich and famous now...well done.

I wish! I did this cost price, so to speak. I just get materials and postage reimbursed. I really have no business sense...

This is really cute!! Its Aardman standard too! I agree with Ryan, super colours and characters. Amazing!

Excellent Ceri! Lyp sync and characters turning on beat of the music and eye-balling each other - all really well done. Colourfulness reminds me of undersea corral reef.

(^ by all MEANS rich !
(^ in ways not measured in pounds nor yen.
(^ famous is better than infamy.
(^ if you got this done without losing more than one shirt, you're a marvel.
(^ now make friends with the loved ones waiting in the lobby.
(^ and the ones back stage.
(^ but mostly, those at home.

Excellent, love the sparkly background. The characters are slightly reminisant of Rex the Runt from Aardman.

Thanks for all your comments and encouragement everyone!

Wow... you're taking off like a SHOT! Look at you go! First it's music videos... What's next, world domination? Go hit up Aardman, I think they would love you.

As Ryan will tell you, it's good to have a quick turnaround. Believe me, the people organizing productions with tight schedules notice.

Hi, loving this, must of watched it at least a dozen times. So cute and i love the colours, you always seem to use such vivid colours and it makes me smile :-)

How did you get the background to sparkle? x

The background was plain, then I added the stars afterwards in photoshop a frame at a time, changing the opacity a little each frame to make them sparkle.
